JERSEY REPRESENTATIVE PERSON SERVICES
Since 2004, individuals who are not ordinarily resident in Jersey or companies that do not have a principle place of business in Jersey are required to appoint a local representative, known as a Representative Person. The Representative Person can be an individual or a corporate body and must be based in Jersey.
The Representative Person simple provides a legal link to the island, and provides a local address to which the register can legally serve papers should the owner be untraceable. Jersey Harbours will continue to correspond directly with the owner, the representative being a secondary contact. **
As from June 2025 Representative Persons are also required to hold detailed information on the vessels they represent and their owners. If the Vessel has one or more corporate owner then the Representative Person needs to hold information on all the beneficial owners of vessels and their links to the vessel.
Blue Water Supplies offers inexpensive representation to individuals and companies that do not have an existing link to the island, or those who prefer not to burden friends or associates with unnecessary responsibility. Blue Water Supplies is a Jersey company specialising in the supply of marine equipment all over the world for all vessels but in particular those undertaking extended voyages such as trans-Atlantic or circumnavigations and now has a large portfolio of vessels which it represents, including private vessels, company owners and charter fleets. Blue Water Supplies is a member of the British Marine Federation and the Marine Trades Association .
If your vessel is already registered in Jersey or you are currently registering a vessel in Jersey and you wish to appoint Blue Water Supplies as your representative person, please complete the form below and forward this to us by email.
**The legal owner retains all legal responsibility for the vessel, it’s registration and fees. The representative person cannot be held responsible for the owners failure to meet any of his or her legal obligations.
