Changes to Jersey’s Shipping Registration Legislation
We would like to inform you about changes to Jersey’s Shipping Legislation which will affect your vessel.
Despite our best efforts to protect the interests of our clients, the States of Jersey (Jersey’s elected chamber) voted to pass an amendment to Jersey’s Shipping Registration Regulation in December 2024. This amendment effectively bestows additional responsibilities on Representative Persons, adding a new active role to the existing passive role. This in turn will impose new obligations on vessel owners.
Blue Water Supplies has been offering Representative Person and vessel registration services in Jersey for over 20 years and we have always been proud of the vessels we represent.
Whilst the legislation changes are significant, we have decided to make every effort to make this transition as seamless as possible for all our clients.
The new legislation requires us to reach new agreements with new owners and to hold information on all vessels and their owners.
We have prepared documents that set out what the changes are and how they will affect individual owners, corporate owners or vessel registration agents.
